Odissi dance Guru Gangadhar Pradhan slips into coma

Renowned Odissi dance Guru Gangadhar Pradhan, who has been hospitalised since Sunday, was slipped into coma, hospital sources said today.

Sixty-two-year-old Pradhan had been taken to hospital with a hemorrhage in the brain and cardiac problem.

“The health condition of the Odissi Guru remains in a critical condition,” a doctor at the hospital said.

Orissa government today announced financial assistance of Rs. one lakh for his treatment.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today visited the hospital to inquire about the health condition of Mr. Pradhan, a Padmasree awardee.

Meanwhile, Guru Pradhan’s son Sibasis Pradhan appealed all to pray for early recovery of his father.

A large number of people made a beeline at the hospital to inquire about his health condition.
