The Mumbai police have issued a notice to Pakistani singer Adnan Sami demanding an explanation for staying on in India after his visa expired on October 6. The police have also fined him $30 for staying without requisite visa documents.

DCP Sanjay Shintre of the Special Branch told the press that the singer claimed that he had applied for an extension in Delhi. However, he failed to produce evidence in this regard and hence a notice was issued. He has been given seven days to reply, failing which the police will inform the Ministry of Home Affairs to take requisite action. It was during a hearing in the Bombay High Court with regard to a property matter between the singer and his estranged wife Sabah Galadari that the visa matter came to light.
