The nomination papers of all the 10 candidates for the reserved seat in Manipur which were scrutinised on Monday were found to be in order. The scrutiny was done in the office of the collector of Thoubal district T. Ranjit who is also the Returning Officer.

The last date of withdrawing the nomination papers, if any, is March 26. The reserved Outer Manipur constituency goes to polls on April 9. The polling in the general seat shall be held on April 17.

There are candidates from the Congress, the BJP, the NCP, the JD(U), the CPI(ML), the AAP, the TMC and three independents. There is one woman candidate.

At least seven Assembly segments of the Thoubal district were included in this reserved seat. This means voters can vote for a tribal candidate, but they themselves cannot contest the seat.
