West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today ruled out any stern measures to bring back work culture among government employees and decided rather to inculcate in them a spirit to acknowledge its worth.

“Work culture will not return in a day. No tough step will serve the purpose and I have already talked to employees’ organisations about the regular attendance,” the Chief Minister told reporters.

She said she believes every employee would ultimately be convinced about work culture notwithstanding ideological and political differences

The Chief Minister, as part of her almost daily practice of paying surprise trips to State government offices or State-run hospitals soon after assuming office, today landed at Swashtya Bhavan at Salt Lake.

She went round the offices and interacted with the health secretary, senior officers and the general staff.
