West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said that the development of minorities is her moral and constitutional responsibility and that some people get irritated with the mere mention of minorities.

“Those who say that I do not do anything for the Hindus should open their eyes and see,” Ms. Banerjee said at an event organised by Department of Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education Department.

Stating that some people are trying to create a divide in the State, the Chief Minister said, “communalism has no place in the soil of Bengal”.
