No displacement due to Jaitapur nuclear power project: govt

2,336 title holders' lands acquired for the project

There is no displacement of people due to the Jaitapur Nuclear Power Plant (JNPP) project, the government said on Wednesday. In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, V.Narayanasamy, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said, “There are 2,336 land title holders whose land has been acquired for the project constituting the Project Affected People (PAP). As of January 31, 1,608 PAPs have been accepted the ex-gratia (additional compensation) as per the rehabilitation package.”

The Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) is building 9900 MW of JNPP with 6 EPR reactors of 1650 MW each. French company Areva is building the reactors for the nuclear plant.
