Ruling out change in the party’s leadership and removal of S K Modi as Bihar Deputy Chief Minister S K Modi, senior BJP leader Sayed Shahnawaz Hussain on Thursday said no such demand was under consideration at top level.

“There is no plan to change Modi as Dy CM in Bihar. Being a member of the party at the national level, I can also say that the party’s national leadership has not received any demand from any section,” Mr. Shahnawaz told reporters here.

Mr. Modi said Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has ruled out the possibility of enacting any legislation to protect sharecroppers.

A section of the party leaders had demanded Mr. Modi’s removal following his reported statement to cover sharecroppers under the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme.

Accusing the UPA government at the Centre of ’neglecting’ Bihar, Mr. Hussain said the NDA MPs would continue to raise issues related to the state’s development in the forthcoming session of the parliament.

He said the issue of securing special status for Bihar would top the agenda of the NDA MPs.
