Nitish urges Anna to end fast

August 28, 2011 02:37 am | Updated 02:37 am IST - Patna:

Even as fasts and demonstrations in support of anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare continued at a furious rate across Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed concern over the 74-year-old Hazare's deteriorating health, and urged him to end his fast, which entered its 12th day on Saturday.

“We all want a solution to be worked out soon and Annaji to end his fast,” said Mr. Kumar.

Earlier, Mr. Kumar said the National Democratic Alliance had put forth its views and solution would evolve soon.

Reiterating his support for a robust Lokpal Bill, Mr. Kumar said that he had strongly condemned Mr. Hazare's detention by the Delhi police a fortnight ago.

He further stated that the Lokayukta legislation was already in force in the State and that there was a sincere effort to make it effective and broadbased by bringing the Chief Minister within its ambit.
