Nitish thanks Manmohan for growth tweet

March 08, 2013 01:48 am | Updated 01:48 am IST - Patna:

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday thanked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for tweeting about Bihar’s growth and development.

Dr. Singh tweeted the previous night: “FACT: The so-called BIMARU States have done much better. Bihar was the fastest growing State in the country.”

On the list of growth rate in various States between 2006-07 and 2010-11, Bihar was at the top with a growth rate of 10.9 per cent, followed by Chhattisgarh.

In an official statement thanking the Prime Minister, Mr. Kumar tried to score a political point by drawing a quick comparison between Bihar and Gujarat, even when Gujarat was on the sixth spot in the chart provided by Dr. Singh in the tweeted message.

“Bihar’s growth rate is 10.9 per cent, whereas Gujarat’s rate is 9.3 per cent,” Mr. Kumar pointed out.
