Acting on an inquiry report on the killing of a doctor in the Gopalganj jail by inmates, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar ordered the transfer of Inspector General (Jail) and Gopalganj District Magistrate (Collector).

Anand Kishore would be new IG (Jail) replacing Ramesh Lal while Pankaj Kumar would be the new DM of Gopalganj in place of Pankaj Kumar Pail, General Administration department sources told PTI on Tuesday.

Principal Secretary (Home) Amir Subhani had submitted his report to the Chief Minister after carrying out an inquiry in Gopalganj last evening.

The doctor, Buddhadev Singh, brother of ex-MP Satyadeo Singh, was called inside the jail on Sunday by inmate Ranjan Yadav who was suffering from chicken pox. As soon as the doctor entered the jail, a group of convicts brutally assaulted him.

Buddhadev Singh was first admitted to a government hospital in Gopalganj but was then rushed to Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) after his condition deteriorated. He died later.
