From the next academic year (2014-15) NIT Goa will offer M. Tech programmes, Director of the institute Prof. G.R.C. Reddy has said.

Mr. Reddy disclosed this at the second Senate Meet of NIT Goa held in Goa on Sunday. Academicians from prestigious institutes such as IITs, NITs and IISc participated in it to review the proposed curriculum of M. Tech Programme and its Rules and Regulations in the three branches: Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

The NIT will offer M. Tech programmes in VLSI (Very Large Scale Integrated circuits) from ECE Department, Power Electronics and Power Systems from EEE Department and Computer Science and Engineering from CSE Department.

The Director later told The Hindu that the objective of introducing M. Tech Programme is to give stress on research and development, which would help the institute to have its niche in the State as well as in the country.
