A 35-year-old Odisha woman is said to have starved to death, as she could not get food for four days.

Though her father had approached the administration for help, as they could not work as hired labour due to old age and ailment, the assistance was not forthcoming from the Jajpur administration.

The National Human Rights Commission, which has taken suo motu cognizance of a media report on the shocking incident, which occurred on January 29 this year, has issued notice to the State Chief Secretary and the Collector, calling for a report on her death within four weeks.

The local sarpanch had informed the administration of the starvation of the family, but she did not get any medical attention either from the Kotpur or Dharamshala centres.

The family was residing at Kotpur G.P. under Dharamshala Block.
