Next batch of 2,203 pilgrims leave for Amarnath

A new batch of 2,203 pilgrims left Jammu on Saturday for onward journey to cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas.

The batch comprising 1,566 men, 397 women, 35 children and 205 sadhus left in a fleet of 83 vehicles from Bagwati Nagar base camp here around 0400 hours, officials said here.

The cavalcade of vehicles, along with security cover, reached Ramban by 1100 hours, they said, adding the pilgrims were expected to reach base camps at Baltal and Pahalgam in Kashmir valley by the evening for onward journey to the cave shrine.

As many as 47,498 pilgrims from different parts of the country left from here to the cave shrine of Amarnath since the commencement of yatra on June 30.
