The Nagpur police have booked the editor-in-chief of Marathi newspaper Deshonnati, Prakash Pohare, and his bodyguard, Harikrishna Triwedi, for the murder of an employee on Sunday.

Rajendra Krishnaji Dupare was a security guard at the paper’s printing press unit near Gondkhairi village on the National Highway no. 6.

Mr. Pohare had ordered the removal of some employees a few days ago.

On Saturday, he visited the printing unit with his bodyguards.

“Mr. Pohare asked some of the workers present at the unit to leave and told them that their final dues have been sent to their home. He asked his bodyguards to push the workers out of the unit and a scuffle ensued. Triwedi, fired a shot, killing Dupare,” PRO of the Nagpur Rural Police Vijay Pande told The Hindu over phone.

Mr. Triwedi has been arrested and Mr. Pohare is still at large.
