Justice Kailash Joshi and Justice Sajjan Singh Kothari were sworn in as judges of the Rajasthan High Court at its principal seat in Jodhpur on Monday. Chief Justice Jagdish Bhalla administered the oath of office to the two new Judges in his chamber.
While Justice Joshi was earlier Registrar-General of the High Court, Mr. Justice Kothari served as the State Law Secretary. Both of them were members of the State Judicial Service holding the rank of District and Sessions Judge.
The Presidential warrants for the appointment of the new judges were issued last Friday. Judges, lawyers and presiding officers of lower courts attended the simple swearing-in ceremony.
With the two judges assuming office, the strength of judges in the High Court has increased to 26 against the sanctioned strength of 40, including the Chief Justice, at both the principal seat in Jodhpur and the Bench in Jaipur.
By another order, Tafazzul Hussain Samma has been appointed the High Court's Registrar-General. The post fell vacant following the elevation of Mr. Justice Joshi to the Bench.
