New office-bearers for Odisha Cong.

Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Prasad Harichandan has finally got a new team of office-bearers in order to strengthen the party organisation in the State.

The new team was approved on Saturday by Congress president Sonia Gandhi on the basis of the recommendations made by Mr. Harichandan. The new team has a majority of new faces.

The list of office-bearers has names of leaders from all the 30 districts, different regions and different communities.

Mr. Harichandan, who was appointed president of OPCC in December last, has 10 vice-presidents, 25 general secretaries, five political secretaries, 55 secretaries, and 37 organising secretaries, apart from one treasurer.

Besides, the list approved by the Congress president has a 23-member coordination committee, 25 executive committee members, 23 special invitees, and a seven-member disciplinary action committee. The coordination committee has many veteran leaders as members.

The appointment of new presidents in as many as 11 organisational districts of the party in the State has also been approved.

Mr. Harichandan has chalked out plans for a series of programmes by involving the new office-bearers of the Pradesh Congress Committee to prepare the party for the panchayat elections scheduled to be held in the State in 2017, according to party sources.
