New Chief Secretary for Harayana

Senior Haryana IAS officer Urvashi Gulati will take over as the State's Chief Secretary from Dharam Vir who is retiring on Saturday.

Ms.Gulati,a 1975-batch officer, will be the third woman Chief Secretary of Haryana. Her sister Meenakshi Anand Chaudhry and Promilla Issar had earlier served as Chief Secretaries.

Ms. Gulati was born at Ambala. She did her graduation from Government College for Women, Chandigarh and Post-Graduation in Political Science from Panjab University. She was appointed as a lecturer in Panjab University but shifted to the civil service after being selected for the IAS.

She was Chief Electoral Officer at the time of Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha polls in 2004 and 2005 respectively.
