Bihar government has decided to formulate a new bio-technology policy to help develop agriculture and livestock resources of the State, Deputy Chief Minister S. K. Modi said on Tuesday.

Mr. Modi said assistance of experts and technical institutions would be taken to formulate the policy and the ruling NDA government would create fund for bio-technology and open state-of-the-art institutions in the field.

Mr. Modi said bio-technology would have a great role to play in blazing the second green revolution and meet the aim of food security.

The platform for this revolution has to be set up in Bihar and adjoining States of eastern Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Assam, he said, adding the State government was working towards making available good quality seeds and livestock species to boost agriculture and milk produce.
