NEC reviews development schemes for North East

The North Eastern Council (NEC) has released Rs 214.64 crore of the total budgetary allocation of Rs 624 core for various projects in the region.

A review meeting chaired by the NEC Secretary U K Sangma at the council headquarters monitored the progress of sanction of schemes and release of funds by the council yesterday, an official statement said here.

The funds released were for various projects, including roads, communication, health, power and scholarships.

The Secretary informed that 75 per cent of the budgetary allocation would be released by the December—end.

He also urged the officers to procure utilisation certificates from the state governments so that release of funds could be expedited.
