Naxals kill three brothers in Chhattisgarh

Three members of a family were brutally killed by a group of armed naxalites in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh, police said on Friday.

The incident took place on Thursday night when a gang of 60 naxalites barged into the house of three brothers -- Jai, Tileshwar and Lachinder in the early hours at Kidrepal village and attacked them, Dantewada SP Amresh Mishra said.

The Maoists took the trio to a village crossroad and severely assaulted them following which they slit their throats using sharp weapons, he said.

They also roughed up the village sarpanch and fled the spot, police said.

Another sibling, who was outside during the incident escaped the attack and informed the police this morning, Mr. Mishra said.

The reason behind the killings in not clear yet and further investigations are on, he added.
