Naxals attack CRPF in Gadchiroli

Naxals attacked a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) team, who were carrying out search operations near Lahiri forests in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra on Tuesday morning.

Naxals started indiscriminate firing on the team and exploded around 10 to 15 IEDs to stop the jawans, reports reaching here claim.

Bhamaragad Police Inspector Kamble confirmed that the encounter took place between 7:30 am and 8 am on Tuesday. There has been no casualty on the police or CRPF side, he added.

According to sources, there might be some casualties on the Naxal side considering the scale of the encounter.

Lahiri is the last security outpost where around 250 CRPF and state police jawans are stationed. It is on the border of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, around 18 km from Bhamaragad.

Lahiri is considered a part of Abujmadh area, a known Naxal bastion.
