January 15, 2013 01:42 am | Updated 01:42 am IST - NAGPUR:

The police issued a strong statement against the Naxals after they burnt down several road construction vehicles in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra on Sunday.

The statement by the Superintendent of Police, Gadchiroli, said, “Naxals are not for development but for destruction.” The Naxals burnt down 19 tractors, two JCB machines, one road roller, two water tankers and three motorcycles on the Lekha to Godalwahi road in Dhanora division.

All the vehicles belonged to a road construction contractor. According to some sources, around 50 to 60 armed Naxals took part in this “destruction.”

“It is an act of cowardice. The sole purpose of this act is to terrorise the common public,” the statement noted.
