Naveen felicitates JEE Advance students

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday felicitated students of ‘Super-30’ run by Odisha Mining Corporation who cleared JEE-Advance for academic session 2016.

“My government in its youth policy has made provisions for overall development and empowerment of our youth. OMC Super-30 is a unique platform,” Patnaik said at the felicitation programme here.

Poor get coaching

Students from economically backward families get coaching and orientation at the OMC Super-30 to crack JEE-Advance examination.

Of the 60 students who availed coaching, 52 have cleared JEE Mains and out of them 24 have cleared JEE-Advance.

They are now eligible to take admission in the premier institutes.

“This novel initiative by OMC will create a talent pool for global requirement. The successful students, I am sure will bring laurels to their families and to the state after completing their studies in their chosen fields,” Patnaik said.

He also highlighted the benefits of Kalinga Sikshya Sathi Yojna which provides educational loan at one percent interest per annum for students from lower and middle class families to pursue higher studies in various disciplines.

The Odisha government, the Chief Minister said, is setting up model schools in all 314 blocks of the State in a phased manner. One hundred model schools have already become operational from this year in 100 educationally backward blocks, he said.

Mr Patnaik said the State government has created hostel facilities for ST and SC students in urban areas and was providing educational assistance under ‘Anwesha’ programme to pursue quality education.

All the successful students were given appreciation letter. Odisha Skill Development Authority Chairman Subroto Bagchi also attended the programme. - PTI
