Nagaland IRB jawan guns down 2 colleagues

December 03, 2010 02:27 am | Updated 02:27 am IST - KOLKATA:

Two security forces personnel, engaged in anti-Maoist operations in West Bengal's Purulia district, were shot dead by a constable of the Nagaland Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) at the Balrampur camp in the early hours of Thursday.

One deceased was a sub-inspector of 10 Battalion of Nagaland IRB and the other a constable of the 13 Battalion of State Armed Police (SAP). The Balrampur camp houses a company each of the IRB and the SAP.

The incident comes exactly two months after a few Nagaland IRB jawans fired without any provocation at a car full of civilians, killing two occupants, who were residents of Jharkhand, on September 30.
