Naga members plea to Governor

July 15, 2014 01:16 pm | Updated 01:16 pm IST - IMPHAL

Five organisations of Naga students and civil societies have submitted a memorandum to Governor Vinod Kumar Duggal urging him to allow the functioning of the regional office of National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah) at Phungreitang in Ukhrul district as usual. The memorandum was submitted to Collector Modak Rishikesh Arvind on Monday evening for submission to the Governor.

The memo sets a deadline of 24 hours to the Governor to translate into action. Discussions had already been started among the Naga organisations to launch various forms of agitations if their demand is not met, the memo said.

Following the killing of Ngalangzar Malui, a member of the autonomous district council, the government has rushed additional forces to launch search operations. They have arrested eight cadres of the NSCN(IM) from the  regional camp. Later they wrapped up the office.
