Setting aside their differences, top leaders of three Naga rebel groups on Monday agreed to take the ongoing peace process towards a logical conclusion.
This was resolved at a meeting among the top leaders of NSCN-IM, GPRN/NSCN led by Khole Konyak and NNC/FGN at Dimapur as part of peace and reconciliation process brokered by Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR).
The three groups had signed the “Covenant of Reconciliation (CoR): A Journey of Common Hope” in 2009 and committed for reconciliation and understanding among themselves.
The meeting was attended by NSCN-IM chairman Issac Chishi Swu and its general secretary T. Muivah, GPRN/NSCN chief Khole Konyak and general secretary N. Kitovi Zhimomi and NNC/FGN president S. Singnya and vice president Zhopra Vero and others.
“In continuation of high-level meetings (among senior functionaries of three Naga groups) in the spirit of love, respect and understanding, we have agreed to strengthen and broaden the Naga peace process based on uniqueness of Naga (political) history,” the top leaders said in a statement.
However, the S. S. Khaplang-led NSCN-K was not part of this latest political development although the united NSCN-K had signed the CoR in Chiang Mai in Thailand in June 2009 and later expressed its commitment towards the Naga reconciliation process on various occasions.
