The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has moved a local court seeking arrest warrants against three accused in a gangrape case of Muzaffarnagar riots.

A case was registered against the three accused — Kuldeep, Mahervir and Sikander — on the direction of Supreme Court after the victim alleged that her complaint has not been registered by the police at Lank village in the district.

SIT inspector Mala Yadav has now filed an application before Chief Judicial Magistrate Narender Kumar seeking arrest warrants against the three absconding accused.

This is the seventh gangrape case to be probed by the SIT in connection with the communal riots in the district in September 2013, that left over 60 people dead and thousands of others displaced.
