A local court has rejected the bail plea of a man accused of killing a person in Mohadpur Rai Singh village in the district during last year’s riots.

District Judge Rama Jain rejected the bail plea of Sanserpal last evening, saying that direct evidence was found against him.

According to the prosecution, Sanserpal was arrested in connection with killing of Rozuddin, besides inciting people for communal riots in the village on September 8, last year.

Six persons, including Sanserpal, were booked in connection with the murder of Rozuddin during the riots.

The violence in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining areas last year claimed over 60 lives and left thousands homeless.
