Municipal Councillor shot dead in Ghaziabad

A 35-year-old Municipal Councillor and local BSP leader was shot dead and his body found inside a car here, police said on Friday.

The body of Sachin Chaudhry, bearing bullet wounds, was found inside a car last night and two used bullets of .32 bore were recovered from the vehicle, Superintendent of Police (City) J.K. Shahi said.

According to the deceased’s family, he received a phone call around 7 pm after which he left his house to meet someone.

Around 9 pm, the police received information that a body was lying inside a car, the SP said.

Mr. Chaudhry’s body has been sent for post mortem, he said, adding that it appears to be a case of rivalry but details would be known after investigation.

Meanwhile, one Bhupender Kumar (35) was killed in Bahadurpur village in Muradnagar area here on Thursday.

The body of Kumar, who was physically challenged, was found in a forest area outside the village, the police said.

A case of murder has been registered and his body sent for post mortem, they said.
