Film and television actor Sanil Sodhi was on Monday arrested by the Mumbai Police on the charge of sending nude photographs of himself to a married woman.

She lodged a complaint with the Versova police. He was produced in a local court which remanded him in police custody.

The 37-year-old actor has been booked under Section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act.

The police said the 33-year-old victim, a friend of Sodhi, allegedly received many photographs of the actor sent from his Blackberry device. The accused and the victim had met each other four months ago, the police said. Both of them are residents of Versova in Andheri.
