Supporters of the expelled Rashtriya Janata Dal MP and leader of the Jan Adhikar Party Pappu Yadav on Sunday disrupted movement of several trains at different places in Bihar while protesting the violence against Bihari migrants in Manipur.
Hundreds of protesters halted trains at Ara, Madhepura, Saharsa, Purnea, Darbhanga, Jehanabad, Siwan, Vaishali, Chapra and Gaya districts for several hours. However, no incident of violence was reported from anywhere in the State.
“Train services were affected for hours across the State… however, movement of long-distance trains remained unaffected”, an official of the East Central Railway told journalists.
Earlier, Mr. Pappu Yadav, who was recently provided ‘Y’ category security, had called a “chakka jam” (halt wheels) on Sunday.
“We’ll take out a march to the Raj Bhavan on Monday followed by a Bihar shutdown to highlight the issue,” Mr. Yadav told The Hindu . He blamed both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the prevailing situation in Manipur.
In poll-bound Bihar, the Madhepura MP has been supporting the NDA.Earlier, he had declared that if the situation did not improve and violence against Bihari migrants in Manipur did not stop, Manipuri passengers too would be pulled out from trains running through Bihar and sent back to their State.
