Lokayukta Police on raided the residence of a State government employee, who works as timekeeper with the Public Works Department, and found that he was worth at least Rs. 12 crore, sources said.
Acting on a tip-off, Lokayukta Police raided Gurukripal Singh Sujlana’s house in Tilak Nagar area.
Mr. Sujlana, who has put in 28 years of service, draws a monthly salary of Rs. 22,000, Lokayukta sources said, adding that the assets were disproportionate with his known sources of income.
Police recovered documents pertaining to 12 plots, four houses, four flats, two shops and agricultural land at seven places. He also owns two SUVs and a bus.
Besides, Rs. 12.5 lakh cash and jewellery worth Rs. 27,000 were found at the house. Further, Rs. 15 lakh cash and jewellery worth Rs. 16.5 lakh were found in bank locker.
He also has Rs. 35 lakh in bank deposits and Rs. 31 lakh in insurance policies.
Besides, 22 bottles of expensive foreign liquor were also recovered, for which the Excise Department registered a separate case against him.
A case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against him and detailed valuation of assets is on, police added.
