MP poll preparations: Deputy CECs hold deliberations

Deputy Chief Election Commissioners discussed law and order situation in Madhya Pradesh with senior police officers at the electoral office here as part of its preparations for the state Assembly polls to be held in November this year.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Jaideep Govind, Additional DG (Intelligence) Vivek Jahauri, IG (Law & Order) Sonali Mishra and poll officers attended the meeting held with Deputy Chief Election Commissioners Vinod Zutshi and Sudhir Tripathi on Thursday where deliberation were held regarding the security measures to be taken in the vulnerable districts of the state.

Discussions were also held on transfer of police personnel posted at their home towns for three years, filling up of range and district police officers’ vacancies and action plan for replacing them.

Availability of equipment like wireless, vehicles at police stations, availability of personnel of SAF and Home Guard, draft of police deployment plan for elections in the state in 2008 and 2009, and effective law and order to ensure smooth polling were also discussed at the meeting.

The Deputy Election Commissioners issued guidelines to police officers in this regard.
