Moon Moon Sen’s flats damaged in fire

April 13, 2015 02:23 am | Updated 02:23 am IST - Mumbai

A massive fire, suspected to have been caused by a short circuit in the air conditioner, gutted the twin joint flats belonging to Trinamool Congress MP Moon Moon Sen and her actress-daughter Riya Sen in suburban Andheri in western Mumbai in the early hours of Sunday.

According to officials, the fire brigade received a call shortly before 2 a.m. reporting a fire on the sixth floor of the Ruia Park building in Andheri west. The furniture and electronic items in flats 601 and 602 on the sixth floor were destroyed but timely intervention by fire brigade personnel using high-pressure water jets prevented the fire from spreading.

Fire officials said Moon Moon Sen, her husband, daughter Riya and two maid servants rushed out and stayed with a neighbour.
