A case of molestation of a German national by a local rickshaw driver is under investigation, Deputy Inspector General of Police Ranganathan told The Hindu on Monday.The case was registered by Canacona police station on Saturday.
"The rickshaw has been attached. Our investigations are on. The accused, Chetan Namshikar who was arrested by us on Saturday was released on bail on Sunday", said Inspector Gururas Kadam on Monday.
He said the police received the complaint from the woman on December 9. The accused was arrested without any delay. According to the complaint, the accused is alleged to have picked up the woman on December 5 from a party spot at Keri-Agonda in Canacona to drop her at Agonda beach.
Instead, on reaching a desolated spot he allegedly misbehaved with the victim.The woman reportedly freed herself from his clutches and ran towards Agonda beach resort where she was staying.
Mr. Kadam denied media reports on police inaction in the case. Though the victim could not be contacted, the probe is on, he said.
