Bharatiya Janata Party prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, who is contesting from Varanasi, wants to wash away his sins but he will not be pardoned, Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad said here on Friday.

“He [Mr. Modi] sinned in Gujarat and now he wants to go to Varanasi to wash his sins. But they are not going to be washed away even in the abode of gods,” Mr. Prasad said in response to a question at a press conference here.

He also took a dig at rival Nitish Kumar saying the Bihar Chief Minister was making himself scarce in the face of an imminent drumming. “Even if he comes out in public, he will be sent right back home,” Mr. Prasad said.

On Friday, Dr. Ejaz Ali, former Rajya Sabha MP from the JD (U) joined the RJD, giving the RJD a strong Muslim face, which it lost recently after the exit of senior leader Ghulam Ghaus.
