Modi: no question of shifting Manesar plant to Gujarat

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has denied that his government is trying to take undue advantage of the industrial unrest in Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar plan in Haryana.

Mr. Modi, now on an official visit to Japan where he is also expected to meet the top bosses of the Suzuki company, told industrialists there on Monday that Maruti Suzuki’s earlier move to set up its second plant in Gujarat, was its “stand alone” decision and was not influenced by the on-going industrial disputes with its employees at Manesar. There was no question of shifting the Manesar plant to Gujarat, an official spokesman of the State government said here.
