Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has denied that his government is trying to take undue advantage of the industrial unrest in Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar plan in Haryana.
Mr. Modi, now on an official visit to Japan where he is also expected to meet the top bosses of the Suzuki company, told industrialists there on Monday that Maruti Suzuki’s earlier move to set up its second plant in Gujarat, was its “stand alone” decision and was not influenced by the on-going industrial disputes with its employees at Manesar. There was no question of shifting the Manesar plant to Gujarat, an official spokesman of the State government said here.

Mukesh,
Gujarat had highest GDP growth in past 10 years, its agriculture growth was at 9% as against national average of 3%. Gujarat has also become electricity surplus state and leads the nation in carbon credits for green energy. Gujarat's tourism sector has grown by 17% and in next few years, Gujarat is going to become one of the major autohubs of the nation. Projects like BRTS and River Front are best in clase and have got lot of international attention.
All of the above are facts, not just merely claims made by Gujarat government. The data is available in public domain for anyone to look at.
So being Gujarati, I want to know where is myth and what exactly you want us Gujaratis to introspect?
It is unfortunate that Indian media continues to spread the rumour that Modi is trying to convince Maruti to shift its operations from Manesar to Gujarat.
This is just creating atmosphere of mistrust between the two states. I hope media does its job of publishing news and facts rather than spreading rumours.
Thus, Gujarat's growth story as claimed by Modi is more a myth than
reality. But it is also imperative that other states in the country make
concerted efforts to secure higher and also inclusive growth, rather
than getting enamoured with the Gujarat growth story. Also, for the
people of Gujarat, it's time for introspection and putting right efforts
in the direction of making Gujarat a truly "vibrant" state.
