Mobile Internet blocked in Jaisalmer, Barmer

Aiming to maintain peace and prevent spread of rumours following the death of a person in police firing in Jaisalmer, authorities have banned mobile Internet services in the district along with Barmer..

Chatur Singh Sodha, wanted in connection with several cases, was allegedly killed in police firing on Saturday resulting in outrage by members of his community who have called for Jaisalmer bandh on July 2.

“Sodha’s family, community members and members of his rival groups have been posting provocative messages. To prevent any clash, mobile Internet services have been blocked,” DC Jaisalmer Matadeen Sharma said. - PTI
