MNS will walk alone, says Raj Thackeray

March 09, 2013 08:33 pm | Updated October 18, 2016 02:53 pm IST - Mumbai:

On the seventh anniversary of the foundation of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), party chief Raj Thackeray has made it clear that his party is not interested in an alliance with any other party and will surely capture power without anyone’s help.

“Some people extended their hand towards me through a newspaper in the morning, but I wished them farewell by evening. Stop winking your eyes at me and my party. MNS will come to power on its own,” said Mr. Thackeray at a program organised in suburban Mumbai on Saturday.

Political circles are abuzz with rumours of a grand alliance between the MNS, Shiv Sena, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Republican Party of India (RPI- Athawale) against the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), after a regional newspaper published a report.

He cautioned his activists that attempts were being made to remove names of Marathi voters from voting lists.

“I have lists of voters whose names have been deleted from voters’ lists. Eighty per cent of those names are of Marathi voters. There is a bigger plan of cutting down the percentage of Marathi voters to defeat us. You all should be cautious,” he said.
