MNS MLA held for beating up Vikroli SM

The Railway police on Thursday arrested a Maharashtra Navnirman Sena legislator and seven party workers for beating up the Vikroli station master here.

A local court remanded them in judicial custody for one day. Later, the legislator, Mangesh Sangle, was granted bail on a bond of Rs. 10,000, informed sources said.

The police said Mr. Sangle and the others beat up Iqbal Ahmed Abdul Gaffar Khan between 7.30 and 9 p.m. on Wednesday after a minor altercation.

“We have booked them under Sections 143, 147, 149, 332 and 353 of the Indian Penal Code [obstructing a public servant and causing him hurt, rioting].”
