MLA asked to show cause for criticising Akhilesh

Mohammad Ziauddin Ansari is charged with breaching party discipline

June 23, 2013 01:07 am | Updated 01:07 am IST - LUCKNOW:

After the expulsion of Bidhuna MLA Pramod Gupta on Friday, another MLA of the Samajwadi Party, Mohammad Ziauddin Ansari, was served with a show-cause notice by the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and president of the party’s State unit, Akhilesh Yadav.

He has been hauled up for publicly criticising the government.

Mr. Ansari, MLA from Sikandarpur in Ballia district, has been given a week to reply to the notice, which was served on him on Saturday. He has been charged with breaching the party discipline.

In the notice, Mr. Yadav took strong exception to Mr. Ansari’s criticism of the government through the press. Reminding him that he is a ruling party MLA and his criticism has sullied the government’s image, Mr. Yadav asked Mr. Ansari “why action should not be taken against you for indiscipline.” The MLA has been told that ventilating grievances in the media came under the purview of indiscipline.
