Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale on Saturday demanded 25% reservation for Dalits and Adivasis in the cricket team and other sports.

Mr. Athawale said, “I have been repeatedly saying that Dalits and Adivasis don’t get proper representation in sports. Recently, the Indian cricket team lost to Pakistan in final [of Champions Trophy]. Kohli, Yuvraj play fantastic cricket but they failed miserably on that day. Was there a match fixing? There should be an inquiry into it.” On the lynching incidents, he said the ‘Gorakshakas’ were “Manav Bakhshaks [human murderers]”.
