Militants make abortive bid to target police

January 03, 2010 12:42 am | Updated 12:42 am IST - SRINAGAR

Hours after they targeted two Border Security Force personnel in the city, militants hurled a grenade at a police party at Lal Chowk here on Saturday, but it failed to go off.

The abortive attempt to target the police came after the police and paramilitary forces intensified searches in the city since this morning after an attack on two BSF men at Soura of the city.

The BSF personnel were injured when militants shot at them while they were withdrawing money from an ATM near the S.K. Institute of Medical Sciences. The injured were being treated.
