Amid curfew restrictions, militants on Friday launched three attacks on security forces in Sopore town in north Kashmir. Two policemen were injured.

Security forces recovered a huge quantity of explosives from Kishtwar in the Jammu region.

Police sources told The Hindu that militants, believed to be aligned to the Lashkar-e-Taiba, hurled three grenades at a police convoy on the outskirts of Sopore. This was followed by heavy firing, to which the security personnel retaliated.

Another incident in Sopore left a jawan of the Indian Reserve Police injured. A third incident took place on the Sopore-Baramulla road when militants fired upon police vehicles, leaving a police driver injured.

In a joint operation, the Special Operations Group and the Rashtriya Rifles recovered a huge quantity of explosives weighing 176 kg from a Lashkar-e-Taiba hideout in Kishtwar.
