Militants today hurled a grenade at a house of former JKPCC chief Ghulam Rasool Kar in Sopore area of Baramulla district in north Kashmir, officials said, adding but no one was injured in the attack.

The ultras lobbed the “rifle grenade” towards Mr. Kar’s house in Sopore town. The blast, however, occurred mid air causing no major damage to either life or property, they said.

Some windows panes of the Congress leader’s house broke due to the impact of the blast, they said.

Mr. Kar was present at his residence along with his family at the time of the blast but none was hurt, officials said.

A bunker of 179 battalion CRPF is also located near the Congress leader’s house, they said.

The grenade attack comes two days after Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants shot dead two girls in Muslim Peer area of Sopore town.
