Temperatures dipped by a few notches in most parts of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday as the sky remained partially overcast and strong winds swept across the region.
The local Met office has predicted rain/thundershowers and snowfall at isolated places in mid and higher hills over the next six days, adding to the anxiety of farmers, already reeling under the impact of untimely rains during March and April.
Rain is considered harmful for wheat crop which is ready for harvesting and cultivation of peas, vegetable and stone fruits in mid and higher hills.
Una in the Shivalik foothills recorded a maximum temperature of 35.5 degrees Celsius against 37.6 degrees on Saturday. Nahan recorded a high of 30.8 degrees, followed by Sundernagar 30.2, Bhuntar 29.6, Dharamsala 26.8, Solan 25.4, Manali 22.2, Kalpa 21.0 and Shimla 20.7 degrees Celsius.
Dharamsala recorded 8 mm rain while Kumarsain had 6 mm, followed by Rohru and Bijahi 4 mm, Tinder 3 mm and Baijnath 2 mm rain.
Capital Shimla was lashed by strong winds accompanied with intermittent showers and the sky remained overcast throughout the day.
Minimum temperatures dropped by two to three degrees in many areas and Keylong and Kalpa in tribal Lahaul and Spiti and Kinnaur districts recorded lows of 2.4 and 5.0 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Manali recorded a minimum temperature of 6.8 degrees Celsius. — PTI
