Meghalaya Chief Minister D D Lapang has sought the co-operation of Bollywood to transform the North Eastern state into an ideal film shooting destination.

Mr. Lapang was in Mumbai for the 11th Mumbai Film Festival inauguration and met prominent Bollywood personalities to promote his state among film producers.

“My Government is in the process of setting up a Task Force and guidelines to provide single window facility to film producers. I have invited Yash Chopra to be the co-chairman and Shyam Benegal and Shabana Azmi to be the members,” Mr. Lapang told PTI.

He said the Task Force will have the complete blue print of Meghalaya and it will guide the film producers on the shooting locales all over the state, which is called “Scotland of India,” he added.

The Task Force will act as an advisory to his government in terms of providing subsidies, facilities and transport to film units.

He said Jahanu Barua’s upcoming film ‘Har Pal’ has been shot in Shillong, the state capital and he was happy the way Meghalaya’s picturesque locales have been shot.
