Market for Bangladeshi traders in Agartala

In another step forward in bilateral trade relations, the Tripura government has provided a permanent market place for Bangladeshi businessmen in Agartala. The first floor of the Mukut Bipani Bitan, a trade centre in the New Capital Complex, has been marked as Bangladesh Market.

The Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) in collaboration with the State’s Industry and Commerce Department is organising ‘Bangladesh Expo 2013’ at the Bangladesh Market on Monday.Chairman of Bangladesh Market Mahbub Islam Runu on Sunday said the expo was expected to go on for more than a week.

“Through this expo we want to have a durable bondage in trade relations and friendship between two countries,” he said. He added that former FBCCI senior vice-president Abul Kashem Ahmed and secretary general Mir Shahabuddin Mohammad would grace the occasion. The Left Front government provided the space for Bangladeshi traders following persistent requests from the FBCCI and the India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
