Armed Maoists shot dead a village head in Bihar’s East Champaran district, police said on Thurday.

A group of six ultras raided the farm house of Shivji Singh, alias Shivchandra Prasad Singh, at Jihuli panchayat under Patahi block last night and sprayed bullets killing him on the spot.

They also beat up Mr. Singh’s nephew and others who were present on the spot, sources said.

Raids were on in the area to nab the ultras.
