The body of CITU leader of SAIL’s Kalta mines Thomas Munda, who was kidnapped on January 25 by Maoists, was found in the Renjeda forest in Orissa’s Sundergarh district on Friday, police said.

“The body was confirmed to be of Mr. Munda,” Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Bonai Sundershan Sethi said.

The Maoists had left behind a poster claiming that 40-year-old Mr. Munda was a “police informer” and had been given the “death sentence“.

Family members of Mr. Munda who stayed in Toda had appealed to the Maoists through the media to set him free as they had earlier released three others - Ananda Masi Horo, Harinath Munda and his brother, Narendra Munda after their abduction.
